Bridget is the Labour MP for Houghton and Sunderland South; one of three constituencies in the City of Sunderland. She was first elected to the seat on 6th May 2010, and was re-elected at the 2015, 2017 and 2019 General Elections. She has served in Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Education since November 2021.
